365 Cards - Day 122 - 3 shades of Blue

Aaaaaaloooooohaaaaaaa and E Komo Mai (Welcome) to another Wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards!!! For today's challenge Pam went easy on us and asked for 3 shades of blue...well, what could I do but water with these FABULOUS tropical images from Digi Kitty?!? The DT got the hula dancers and Aloha word art to use for this week's challenges and I got the Tiki hut from K Andrew's new blog site this past week...thought they all worked together wonderfully! Everything is colored with my Prismacolor markers. I made the raffia "hula skirt" trim. I loosely based the layout on Super Sketchy Sunday...here's a picture of the inside:

I know...I kinda went over the top with the number of images on this one...but I love using anything that represents my adopted home!! So here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:

1. A Crafty Little Place - color inspiration from DeLovely patterned paper
2. ABC challenge - X is for Xtra dimension: I popped the girls up
3. CCEE Stampers - summer card with flowers or floral ribbon: I made those little flowers up in the left corner...
4. Cooking it up with Katie - Make or Alter an embellishment (I made that raffia trim),  add some Sparkle (hard to tell but I added rhinestones/brads to the flowers and starburst pen to the centers of the lei flowers, use a Die Cut (cut the tiki image out with a nestie and then rounded the corners)
5. Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges - Summertime + digi
6. Delightful Sketches & Challenges - all about summer
7. Die-cut Dreams Challenge Blog - Life's a Beach!
8. digital tuesday challenge - Summertime + digi
10. Hand Full of Stamps - Joys of Summer

Magical Monday - Box or Container

Welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes! This week's challenge as set by Olga is to use any of the images from the Paper Cupcakes store (or the free one provided) on a box or container. When I saw the tutorial on SCS this past Wednesday I knew what I wanted to do! You can find the toot for this "all-in-one-box" here. Here's a picture of it open that may make a bit more sense...
I used the super cute "Birthday Stack" which you can find at the Paper Cupcakes store. Used my Nesties to cut out and mat the image. Added some white dots around the mat. And the image is colored with my Prismacolor Markers.

Here's some other challenges I was also inspired by for this one:
1. Bee Crafty - Pink n Girly + digi
2. Digi Doodle Shop’s Best - Anything goes
3. Everybody-Art-Challenge - Green/Pink
4. Order of the Opus Gluei - Anything but a Card
5. Paper Makeup Stamps - make a party favor or treat
6. pile it on - do something fancy, cool, and extravagant with your paper
7. Sew Many Challenges - anything goes
8. Simon Says - Friends: I thought these little guys in the image must be great friends to stand like they are!
9. Stamp with fun - birthday
10. Stampin’ Celebration - inspiration photo
11. Totally Gorjuss - gift bag: hopefully a box counts...

Well, as they say "All good things must come to an end..." and so has my time as DT member for There's Magic In the Air with Paper Cupcakes. It was just about a year ago that I found Nina's fabulous images and started playing along with the challenges. I was floored when she asked me to join to DT in October last year and I have enjoyed this experience so much. Thank you Nina for giving me my first DT spot and I can't wait to see where else this adventure takes you!

365 Cards - Day 115 - Imagine This: Bedtime

Aloha and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards!! Today's challenge is to "imagine this: bedtime". Well, when I saw this super cute "Twink" image by this week's sponsor Lia Stampz I knew the tooth fairy was coming to visit this bedtime! :) I kinda had fun adding a bunch of different elements to this one, although they are kinda hard to see in the picture...the top two pp's are sprayed with Smooch Spritz Vanilla Shimmer. I also masked the image and sprayed around it...however, it kinda splotched so I ended up rubbing some of it off. I added Stickles to the star brads in the upper right corner because it just didn't have enough sparkle! Oh yeah, and I embossed the cloud pp. So here's the inside which just confirms the tooth fairy theme...

I found the poem online and made the sentiment layer into a pocket that the "tooth fairy" can leave some reimbursement for the "gift." :)

So here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Charisma Cardz Challenges! - All About Bling
2. Crafty Ann - Embossing
3. Crafty Creations Challenges - Add some shine
4. Drunken Stampers - Colouring and Bling
5. Some Odd Girl - make it shimmer
6. Speedy the Cat’s Friends at Mark’s Finest Papers - emboss
7. Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays  - use a pocket on your card
8. Stampin’ for the Weekend - sketch + yellow/blue combo
9. The Crafty Pad - 1 circle, 2 rectangles, 3 papers and some ribbon

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see how you're inspired by "bedtime"!

Magical Monday - Let's get Spotty!

Welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes. This week's challenge is using the super cute "Cats" image and Pat wants to see some spots on your projects. I colored the image with my Prismacoor Markers and all the patterned paper is from DCWV Pets Stack. The pawprint brad-looking things are actually extra-large snaps that I applied stickers to. Here's a picture of the inside:
Got to use my new fabby paw print paper edger (EK success). Love it!! Just a couple of challenges for this one: Delightful Sketches & Challenges - sketch and pile it on: Stickers.

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see your spots!

Tweet Friend...

Happy late Saturday/early Sunday morning everyone! Sunday is very special day as not only is it Father's Day (Happy Father's Day, Dad!!), it's also my wonderful mother's birthday (Hau'oli la hanau, mother dear!)!!! Although I can't celebrate with them in person, they are definitely in my thoughts and best wishes! Of course, you would think that as a card crafter I would've gotten cards to them at least...but no...didn't get them in the mail :( ... but my excuse is I'm waiting on some stuff I ordered for a present for my mom and then I'll send it all together...yeah, that's it...I wanted to save postage!!! hehehe!

Anyway, here's my fun Saturday card! See the deets in the list of challenges below...

1. A Spoon Full of Sugar - Sunshine inspired card: I was inspired to use a lot of yellow on this one!
2. Challenge up your Life - Vintage: well, this was my attempt at shabby vintage...not sure I quite got it...I thought the distressing (the edges of the papers, with ink, and some rumpling of paper), lace and pearls gave it that air
3. Crazy 4 Challenges - Flowers: I made the flowers using my boho blossoms SU! punch
4. Dare you to digi stamp - Blooms and Butterflies + digi: I don't have a good butterfly punch so used that butterfly paper by American Crafts
5. Delightful Inspiration - image and sentiment: you can find this image and sentiment in the Designed2Delight Digi Stamp store
6. digital tuesday challenge - Easel card + digi
7. Fun with Shapes and more - Flowers + something punched/cut out: see above
8. KL Stampin N Scrappin Blog - Let's Get Shabby: again this is my attempt...vintage and shabby go together for me...
9. Lots To Do - Quotations
10. Meljen’s Designs - Fibers, Ribbon, or Lace
11. PaperPlay Challenges - use some of your old stash: I've had the Groovy Guava CA and DSP for awhile...
12. Stamp Something - Something Summery: I think these colors and the image are summery
13. The Shabby Tea Room - In the Sun!: see above
14. There She Goes - Worn, Torn, Distress: see above
15. Truly Scrumptious - sketch + optional extra of gingham: might be hard to tell but that yellow paper on the bottom of the front is a gingham print
16. ….wee Memories… - Let's Get Sticky: those pearls are sticky

Well, that's a wrap for this one!

365 Cards - Day 108 - Rainbow Connection with a Twist!

Welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards!

Okay I admit I was only 4 years old when the Muppet Movie came out, but I clearly remember Kermit singing this song and I think it's been one of my favorite songs since then. I even have the Hawaiian version of this song on my iPod (you can listen to it here with a slide show of Hawaiian rainbows...that's for you, mom!) So I was SUPER excited that I got to pick the song-inspired challenge from last June using this song...I mean how bad could a "twist" be?!? Well, Pam threw me for a loop on this one...be inspired by a song about rainbows but don't have any rainbows on the card!!! UGH!!!

Well, after a bit of research that included watching multiple versions of this song (here's the original one from the movie!), reading the lyrics multiple times and reading some interesting trivia about the song, I was still stumped! So when I couldn't get anything from the lyrics or trivia, I went back to where it all started...with Kermit!!! Well, I have no Kermit stamps but I did have this super cute frog on a lily pad digi from Doodle Pantry and he reminded me of Kermit singing in the swamp.

Then I got the idea of the use of the gorgeous SRM Stickers from a while ago when they had a toot on making "newsprint flowers". I just didn't punch out flowers! ;) I wish I'd sized the image a little smaller so you could see more of the stickers, but lesson learned for next time! Most of the stickers I used came from the Thinking of You pack which I also thought went well with this Rainbow Connection song-inspired card! I used one more sticker for the sentiment on the inside:

Well, I hope you like my Rainbow Connection inspired without a rainbow card! Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Alphabet Challenge Blog - G for Green
2. CardPatterns - sketch
3. Diva Coffee Break Designs - gable green, bashful blue, pixie pink: I added a bit of so saffron too!
4. Pollycraft Monday Challenge  - let's have a sing song
5. Speedy the Cat’s Friends at Mark’s Finest Papers - make your own background paper
6. The Corrosive Challenge Blog!! - sketch (very similar to the CardPatterns one)

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see your "inspired" cards!

Magical Monday - Monochromatic

Aloha and welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes. Nina's off enjoying herself in New York but we continue with another fabulous challenge by Patti Nelson to use any PCC image and make the card monochromatic. Now I admit I checked with Patti before finishing mine to make sure we could use other colors in coloring the image and she said I could do whatever! YEAH! I wanted to use this "Poppies" image and couldn't imagine coloring it any other colors but what I did and I knew the rest of the card would be overwhelming if done in reds or greens. So I chose to use the sky color for my monochromatic color scheme...that's Soft Sky, Baja Breeze, and Blue Bayou. It's a tall card (4x9) too. Here's picture of the inside:

It's hard to read but I copied the poem "In Flanders Fields" for the inside...reason for this? My dad is active in his local VFW post and around Memorial Day he helps give away "buddy poppies" at local stores, so when I saw this image I thought of him and then did some research to find where the poppy as a symbol for the VFW came from and that's where I found this poem. Although I'm too late for this year's Memorial Day, I figure I'm either really ready for next year or could give it to him for Veteran's Day!

Just a few other challenges for this one:
1. C.R.A.F.T - Father's Day/Men's cards: although not a typical looking card for a man...maybe?...I really did make this for my dad
2. clean&simple  - sketch
3. Cupcake Craft Challenges - one for the boys: see above
4. Magical Crafts Fortnightly - something for a male/father's day: see above
5. Paper Playtime - "In thy face I see Honor, Truth, & Loyalty."

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see what you come up with for this Magical Monday challenge!
Aloha,

Happy B-Day 2 you!

Here's another creation for ya! This is using the free image from Designed 2 Delight Digi Stamps with Delightful Inspirations challenge blog. I love this little guy even though I'm usually not a fan of mice! :0) Colored him with my Prismacolor markers and all the lovely patterned pattern paper is Basic Grey - Nook and Pantry. Here's a picture of the inside:

Using those scraps up again! :)

Here's the challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. BasicGrey Challenges - color combo (turquoise, brown, cream): realized as I was putting this together that what I was seeing as turquoise may be a bit too green...oh well, it's a green shade of turquoise!
2. Cupcake Inspiration Challenge - inspiration photo: I love the combo of the turquoise and the pink on this cupcake...see where I got the pink on my mouse?!?
3. Delightful Inspiration - image
4. Color Chef Challenge - cream turquoise dark brown kraft paper
5. One stop Craft challenge - sketch
6. Our Creative Corner - focus on corners
7. Paper Makeup Stamps - all thing food: well, I got a little food on there with the cupcake!
8. Party Time Tuesdays - use a number on your card
9. Scrap Creations – Going Grey Challenge - birthday card + BG paper
10. The Crazy Challenge - distress
11. ….wee Memories… - in stitches (faux or real)

Well, stop by later for my next Magical Monday post and hope you have a wonderful week!

It's Puppy Love...

Aloha Everyone! Today was King Kamehameha Day in Hawaii and all State employees had the day off to celebrate!!! Whoopee, I spent mine playing with my card stuff!!! So here's what I made...

And I rocked some major challenges for this one!
1. "Just Us Girls" Challenge - Let's go digital (use digital image or paper): This stamp from Mo Manning is a digi! Love it!
2. A Crafty Little Place - Anything but a square
3. Challenge up your Life - critter cratters and bling
4. Charisma Cardz Challenges - spots and stripes
5. Crafty Angels - favourite stamp: I love any Mo Manning stamp!
6. Crafty Creations Challenges - Child's play
7. Cupcake Craft Challenges - dazzle us: I tried to get a lot of dazzle, glitter, bling on this one...got the rhinestone hearts, the pink rhinestone brads, the paper has glitter, the scallop edge on the inside is from glitter paper,  there are stickles on the hearts in the image, and stardust pen on the top sentiment
8. Cute Card Thursday - anything but a square
9. Digi Doodle Shop’s Best - tie it up!: I tied knots with ribbon on the buttons
10. Frosted Designs - glitter: see above

12. Hand Full of Stamps - How cute is this!!: I think this image is soooo cute and anything pink is cute too!
13. Meljen’s Designs - sparkle, glitter, bling: see above and the "puppy love" sentiment was a freebie from Meljen!
14. Mojo Monday - sketch: may be kinda hard to see as I spread it over the front and inside :)
15. Mo’s challenge blog - Easel card + Mo's Digital Pencil image: I had a little trouble with this one as I wanted to make a heart but my first draft didn't work the way I needed to...so cut it apart and put it back together for this one!
16. No Time to Stamp - Give it a chance (finish/reuse something that's been discarded for some reason): I colored this image back in February and then never used it for the card I was intending so here it is now!
17. Pollycraft Monday Challenge - Ribbon and Bling
18. Saturday Challenge - include a quote: I love the quote on the inside about puppies!

21. Totally Paper Crafts - animal magic
22. Your Next Stamp - buttons

And my puppy wanted to say "aloha!" too!

Here's hoping you have a most excellent weekend!

365 Cards - Day 101 - Inchie x 10 & Happy B-Day Mom!

Welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards. Well, I think Pam's hitting the "coffee" again...first I had a "twinchie"challenge, then 10 different patterned papers, and now 10 INCHIES!!! UGH!!! Luckily this super cute set from The Cutting Cafe made this challenge a breeze! But I realized there's another tool I need...a 1 inch paper punch! Cutting these out on my paper cutter didn't work and doing them individually using my 1inch square nestie and Cuttlebug was a bit tedious! Looks like I know what to get with my next "40% off one item coupon" for Ben Franklin Crafts! ;) So here's the inside:

Simple, but I wasn't sure what I would use if for so no inside sentiment...yet!

Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Crafty Creations Challenges - black, white, and a splash of red
2. Create4Fun - black, white and one color of your choice
3. Everybody-Art-Challenge - Things with Wings
4. Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge - Black, white, and third color of choice
5. pile it on - Quirky
6. Sketch Girl - sketch
7. The Corrosive Challenge Blog!! - use die cuts
8. The Pink Elephant  - the color red, scallops, and a bow: I spread these out to the inside too!

Oh, one more thing before you go...I also started my mom's birthday card this weekend...still gotta finish the inside but wanted to post what I have since I was using several other challenges that are due this week. I tried to incorporate her interests (she likes to grow plants/flowers) and her style into this one...she often embosses white paper for backgrounds and mixes patterns, she LOVES the color So Saffron, stickles (hard to see but the middle of the flowers are stickled), and pearls! Oh yeah, I got the blossom nestie because she had used it on a card too! I was talking to her on the phone while working on this and asked what border punch she'd like me to use...she requested the MS lattice punch as she doesn't have it! So here ya go mom...at least the inside will be a surprise! :) Oh yeah, if I had a butterfly punch to put on here it would be perfect (she LOVES butterflies too), but alas something else I need to buy!

Here's the challenges for this one:
1. A Spoon Full of Sugar - Floral Delights
2. Alphabet Challenge Blog - F for Flowers
3. Bee Crafty - Bloomin' marvelous (flowers + digi)
4. By The Cute And Girly - “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue...”: The embossing folders were old, the ribbon was new, the digi is "borrowed" (okay got it for free!), and there's lots of blue!
5. Charisma Cardz Challenges! - Flowers
6. Clearly Delightful - sketch
7. Clearly Inspired Challenges sponsored by Clear Dollar Stamps - birthdays
8. Curtain Call Color Challenge - whisper white, bashful blue, certainly celery, night of navy: I had to add a little pink and yellow into this one too...yellow for my mom and pink for me!
9. Delightful Inspiration by Designed 2 Delight Digi Stamps: image
10. Digi Doodle Shop’s Best - Buttons: well, I got one on there!
11. For Fun Challenges - birthday card for that special person in your life: can't get more special than my mom!
12. Frosted Designs - buttons: ditto above
13. Fun with Shapes and more - handmade background + something punched or cut

16. Pixie Dust Studio Challenge - punch it out
17. Speedy the Cat’s Friends at Mark’s Finest Papers - buttons and bows: again got one of each...hope that's okay!

Well, that's it for this week. Hopefully I get to make more this coming weekend...been catching up on stuff around the house so I can do that!

Magical Monday - Catch of the Day + Sketch

Aloha and welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes! For this week's challenge we get to use the super cute "Catch of the Day" image by Nina and Jessie has provided with an awesome sketch to use!! This sketch was so great that I pretty much stayed true to it! ;) The image is colored with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS. The  patterned papers are Cosmo Cricket. Kinda hard to tell by the green layer is embossed with the Distressed texture plate from SU! Here's the inside:

I thought this was kinda a boy/guy image and with Father's Day just around the corner...really a no brainer! :)

Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. allsorts challenge blog - photo inspirations: The photos were of a chocolate strawberry cake and strawberries in cream...I went with the colors (red, brown, and a little green) as my inspiration for this card
2. Alota Rubber Stamps - Lots of folds (try for 3 or more): I folded/pleated the ribbon on the front...
3. Crazy 4 Challenges - create pleats: see above...
4. Creative Inspirations Challenge - sewing (faux or real): after folding/pleating the ribbon, I sewed a piece of linen thread through the middle of the ribbon
5. Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges - Father's Day/Manly project
6. Easy Craft Projects - GREEN
7. Everybody-Art-Challenge - Summer: fishing and Father's Day say summer to me!
8. For Fun Challenges - for a man
9. Jacksonbelle embellishments - use favorite things from the J-belle store...well, they were carrying the Cosmo Cricket paper, although I just found out they are closing their store...so not much left :(
10. Magical Crafts Fortnightly - metal madness: got a little with those brads and colored the reel on the fishing pole with a metallic pen
11. My Time to Craft challenge - Wild Thing (image of anything that lives or grows in the wild): although I doubt many wild bears use a fishing pole to get their fish... :)
12. Res-Q Challenge - sewing (faux/real), staples or buttons
13. Sew Many Challenges - Father's Day projects without using the color blue: well...I broke this one a bit, had to use a very light blue for the sky...hope that's okay
14. Simon Says - make any male card
15. Simple Doodles - Just 4 you Dad
16. Stamp Something - use a digi
17. Stampin' B's Design Team  - make a masculine card
18. Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog - boys and their toys: think a fishing pole counts as a "toy"? :)
19. The Shabby Tea Room - Father's Day or Masculine card
20. Tuesday Taggers - texture

Whew! That was a busy one! thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see what you come up with!
Aloha,

365 Cards - Day 94 - Combo Card + 1 more!

This is kinda a long post...if you're looking for my Sassy Hatter submission, it's below...

Aloha and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday challenge at 365 Cards! The challenge today is to pick at least one previous challenge each from March, April, AND May...so you'll need to combine at least 3 challenges! I know for some that's daunting, but give it a try...it'll definitely get your creative juices flowing! I got to play with the adorable Flowerpot Fred image from this week's sponsor KLM Digital Designs (love those initals BTW!!!) and here are the three challenges I choose:
~ March = A whole new dimension (3/13)
~ April = Taggies (4/6)
~ May = It needs something (5/11)

Check out the close up to see how I met March and May's challenges:

I popped up the flowerpot and added a super small butterfly which I thought was "missing"! So CUTE!! I colored him with Prismacolored pencils and OMS. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Cupcake.

Here's a picture of the inside:

Also we had a big discussion among the DT when we pick our images about how clowns scare some people. Well, except for that scary Steven King one...I'm on the side of clowns being cute and fun!! So much so that when I was younger I collected clown figurines and was actually a clown!! Just to prove it, here's a picture of me in my costume (taken from a card that my mom sent to me for my birthday a couple of years ago)...

See where I got the inspiration for the yellow hair for Flowerpot Fred?!? And that balloon paper?!?!  :)

Well, I hope you're inspired to play along with us again this week...oh yeah, here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. A Spoon Full of Sugar - celebration card
2. Incy Wincy Designs - make a creation for a baby or small child
3. The Sweetest Thing - sketch

And finally, here's my submission for the last day of the Sassy Studio Designs Anniversary Relay! Whew, what a race! :) We got to use "The Sassy Hatter" for this one, so fun! My color inspiration was a picture I found on-line of Disney's Mad Hatter at Disneyland/world. He has grey hair, and the blue, orange, and green color scheme which I thought was fun too! So here's the picture of the front...

I made a tall card so I could print her larger...yesterday's was too hard to color as small as I printer her out! I thought this would make a great anniversary card so here's the inside which I kinda confirms the sentiment...

Here's some other challenges for this one:
1. Daring Cardmakers - Happy Anniversary
2. Little Paper Shop - sketch

Well, thanks for sticking around and making it to the end of this long post!! As always, your comments are much appreciated! Thanks!
Aloha,
